Day 1 in Tokyo Bay: jet lag, button-filled toilets and way too much food.

Well we arrived at 8.50am so it’s technically our 1st day here but the 2nd day of our trip. We were all excited but exhausted as the overnight flight was tough. We pushed through as best we could & left our luggage at the hotel to go and explore Ikspiari- I guess the equivalent of downtown Disney. This meant navigating the trains for the first time, which I think we did pretty well at despite Google Maps giving us a bum steer. Luckily for us the Japanese people are so helpful.

Today we also had our first authentic Japanese meal in a beautiful little restaurant. There was so much food. We’ll definitely order better next time, haha. Nathan did well finishing off everybody’s leftovers.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering why Japanese people spend quite a bit of time in the toilet… I can now understand why! The number of buttons was overwhelming – thank goodness for the little pictures that explained them.

Despite our best efforts to push through the day and not sleep until at least 7 pm, I’m pretty sure we all failed at that. I ended up having a four-hour “nap”, and here I am at 10 pm feeling somewhat refreshed.

Oh well, sleep is for the weak! We are in Japan and intend to make the most of it. I’m so excited about Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter tomorrow. IYKYK!
