An Incredible Day at Tokyo Disneyland!

Tokyo Disney! Today was an incredible day! Incredibly cold, incredibly long, incredibly brilliant!!

We started the day lining up at Disney at 8am to beat the crowds for rope drop. We stood there in 2 deg temps that felt way less than that. We learnt a few lessons about layering today… and what’s important to keep warm…. Head, neck, hands. Tomorrow taking our ski gloves & my newly acquired head gear- see pic of me in white fluffy dog beanie.

We had a great day at Tokyo Disneyland despite our favourite ride of all time- Space Mountain- being closed (we knew this a little in advance but were still sad) and Big Thunder Mountain breaking down for most of the day. We rode Beauty and the Beast & so many other great rides. It’s hard not to enjoy Disney. I just love the atmosphere. And the Japanese are something else. Young girls walking around the park in short skirts & platform shoes…(do they not feel the cold or what??!) and everyone in the fancy head gear. When in Rome… I mean Japan… ha.

A highlight of today was standing in our first line for the day and seeing snowflakes begin to fall. Snow was a new concept for our kids and they were excited to see it, even though it was short-lived. Rain fell soon after and our first Disney ponchos were purchased! Our clothes may have been dampened but our spirits sure weren't. We enjoyed soaking up the Disney atmosphere, eating Churros, the pre-ride animations, and torturing the kids with "It's a Small World," despite having seen it in L.A. I still smirk thinking about it.
We are all tired, sore, windburnt etc… but so so happy.

Tomorrow we are off to Disney Sea! (I wonder if nurofen needs a new ambassador??)
I am dreaming of the heat back home! Not sure which I'd prefer… but as long as there is air con I think both are ok. Remind me of this at 8am as we line up in -2 tomorrow!! Helllpppp!
