General Questions
We understand that traveling to a new country like Japan can bring many questions. Here are some of the most common things our travelers ask about our unique approach to exploration.
Is Japan safe for solo female travelers?
Japan is widely considered one of the safest destinations in the world. Our small group setting provides an extra layer of reassurance and community, allowing you to focus entirely on the experience.
What is the typical group size?
We believe in intimacy. Our groups are kept small, typically between 6 to 8 women, ensuring a personalized experience and deep connections with each other and the culture.
Who is the typical 'Next Chapter' traveler?
Our community consists mostly of middle-aged women looking for thoughtful, enriching travel. Many are entering a new phase of life and want to explore the world at a deeper, more meaningful level.
What level of fitness is required?
Paths in Japan often involve walking. We maintain a gentle, comfortable pace. If you are comfortable walking on varied terrain for a few hours a day, you will find our trips very manageable.
How would you describe the travel style?
We embrace a slow, thoughtful approach. Our itineraries are culturally immersive, giving you time to truly soak in the gardens, tea houses, and traditions without the rush of typical tours.
Do I need to have visited Japan before?
Not at all. Whether it is your first time or your fifth, our expert guidance ensures you see Japan in a way most visitors never experience, focusing on local stories and authentic moments.
Can I come with a friend, or are these for solo travelers only?
Yes, of course you can! Many guests travel with a friend, sister, or relative. We also have solo travelers, and everyone is welcomed into the same warm, supportive group.
Is there flexibility with the age range?
Absolutely. While we cater to middle-aged women, we welcome anyone who shares our slow travel philosophy. Age is just a number; a kindred spirit is what truly matters. Having said this, some trips will be geared towards particular age groups. Eg. 60+ or 40-55.
Will I share a room or be by myself?
That is up to you. Prices quoted are assuming twin share but single rooms can be booked at a cost. If you are travelling solo but wish to share a room we will match you with someone we believe to be a good ,match.
Booking & Services
We want your journey to be as seamless as the travel itself. Here are the details on how we manage our bookings, payments, and slow-paced itineraries.
What is included in a typical trip?
Your trip includes boutique accommodations, local internal transport, curated cultural experiences, some meals, and the constant support of our group host. International flights are separate.
What is the typical trip length?
Most journeys span 10 to 14 days. This length is carefully chosen to allow for our signature slow-paced exploration, ensuring you never feel rushed through the beauty of Japan.
Are trips custom or set itineraries?
We offer both! You can join one of our thoughtfully curated group escapes or we can design a bespoke private itinerary tailored specifically to your group's unique interests and pace.
How far in advance should I book?
Because our groups are very small, we recommend booking 6 to 9 months in advance. This ensures your spot and gives you plenty of time to enjoy the anticipation of your journey.
What is the payment schedule?
We keep it simple: a non-refundable deposit secures your place, followed by 50% payment mid-way, and the final balance due 60 days before we set foot in Japan.
What if I need to cancel or change?
We understand life happens. While deposits are non-refundable, other payments may be partially refundable depending on the timing. We always strongly recommend travel insurance.
